The process of switching from a survivor benefit to your own retirement benefit can be completed in two ways, online or with the help from your local Social Security office.

Since you prefer to do it online, please visit SSA.GOV and click on “Apply for benefits.” Fill out the application forms and you should receive a mailed notice if either any other information is needed or after 4-6 weeks your application is accepted.
