On Monday March 30, 2020 the Commissioner of Social Security, Andrew Saul reassured many older Americans with an update: Social Security Benefits will continue to be paid and will be paid on time.
Commissioner Saul stated, “Social Security will pay monthly benefits on time and these payments will not be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.” This is important to keep in mind. Your Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will not be suspended, adjusted, or lowered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Beware of scammers trying to take advantage of this time and telling you otherwise. Do not believe them. Read this to remind yourself about what to look out for and what to do if you think you are being scammed.
Additionally, the Social Security Administration has been witnessing an overwhelming amount of phone calls. As a reminder, most services can be done online through their website, www.socialsecurity.gov.
