Will my payment date change when I switch from SSDI to Social Security retirement benefits?
Published: July 29, 2025Full question: I am currently on SSDI. I turn 65 this month. On SSDI I get paid on the 3rd of each month. Will my payment date change to the fourth Wednesday of each month after 65? I have emailed, called and texted my local and government SSA with NO response. Help! And thank you.
Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out regarding your Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments.
When you transition from SSDI to Social Security retirement benefits, your payment date typically does not change since it is based on the day of the month you were born. Since you are currently receiving SSDI payments on the 3rd of each month, you should continue to receive your benefits on the same schedule, even after turning 65.
Take care,
Martha
