Full question: Good afternoon, My wife passed away 3 years ago from a brain tumor at age 60,.I’m currently collecting my deceased spousal benefits, we were married for 21 years as I had just turned 60, I’m now 63. Am i able to collect on this before i claim my Social Security at 70 ? I was 60 at the time of her passing.

Hi there,

Yes, you are able to do that, and it is an excellent way to maximize your own benefits by waiting until age 70 to switch over.
