Full question: I saw a video explaining that if a person has qualified dependents, and receiving monthly reduced early retirement benefits for less than x amount of time, the primary beneficiary could withdraw his/her benefits and wait until 67, probably would need to repay his/her benefits and meanwhile the children would continue to received their benefits. I just spoke with an SSA rep and was told that is no longer the case. I would like to confirm if that is true or if it ever was true. Thanks you your help.

Dependents who are under the age of 18 or 19 if still in high school may be eligible for Social Security benefits. Also, children who are disabled may be eligible as well depending on when they became disabled and if they will continue to be disabled.

Timing and amount of retirement and dependent benefits varies from case to case because of Full Retirement Age, Earnings limits, Family or Combined Family maximums and much more.
