Should I have an RSSA consultation?
Published: March 11, 2025Full question: I will be 70 in 4 months and will apply for benefits. I will continue having an income. What are the benefits from an RSSA consultation at this point?
Hi there,
You should apply three months prior to having benefits start at age 70. Your future earnings may raise your benefit amount if any are higher than your current highest 35 years used in the benefit calculation.
You may want to consult with an RSSA about how Social Security benefits can be subject to income tax when you have other income in retirement.
You can work with an RSSA here.
Warmly,
Martha
