One of my fondest grade school memories dates back to 4th grade at Maple Plain Elementary in Maple Plain, MN, part of the Orono School District. One day, our teacher announced a field trip to the Maple Plain Nursing Home. I was genuinely excited—partly because it meant getting out of class for half a day, but mostly because I thought it would be fun and interesting. I looked forward to hearing the residents’ stories, playing games with them, and learning about their lives and living arrangements. Looking back, I realize I may have been the only student who was actually eager to go on the field trip that day. That experience sparked a lifelong respect and appreciation for older adults. Even today, I find great joy in connecting with, helping, and honoring those who are older, wiser, and deserving of our support and friendship.
I now live in Plymouth, MN, with my wife, Sue, of 31 years. Our grown children, Jack (28) and Jessie (25), live nearby. I’ve held my insurance license for 25 years and have spent over two decades helping individuals plan for retirement, including individuals transitioning into Social Security, Medicare, Individual Health Plans, and more.
My goal as an RSSA® is to provide expert guidance so you can make the best financial choices. If you have any questions about your Social Security benefits or know someone who could benefit from a personalized Social Security plan, I’d love to help! Let’s schedule a quick consultation.

Divorced
If you are divorced and 62 or older, you may qualify to receive Social Security benefits from your ex-spouse — in addition to your own Social Security payments. Ask an RSSA® for details.

Single
If you are single, and solely responsible for your retirement, making the optimal Social Security claiming decision is particularly important. Ask an RSSA® about your options.

Self-Employed
As a self-employed person, you may be able to decrease your payroll taxes — yet still receive the maximum income from Social Security. Ask an RSSA® for details.
