Professional Details
Karin Woofter, CLU®, LUTCF, RSSA®
Karin is a financial professional and educator based in Anchorage, AK, where she leads MyPoM Insurance—short for “Peace of Mind,” which is really what she’s helped clients with these past 39 years in life, health, and annuity planning. She holds the CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and LUTCF (Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow) designations and is licensed in life, health, and annuity products, including Medicare (which she swears is more exciting than it sounds).
As a Registered Social Security Analyst (RSSA®), Karin helps clients navigate the maze of claiming strategies and hosts workshops across Anchorage—where she’s known for making Social Security feel less like a government form and more like a game plan. Since 1996, she’s written and presented state-approved continuing education courses in life, health, and ethics, teaching nationally via live and webinar formats through the CE Partnership.
Before 2021, Karin held Series 6, 63, and 65 securities licenses. Earlier in her career, she spent 12 years as a Community Relations Manager and certified Credit Counselor for Consumer Credit Counseling Service, delivering bilingual workshops on budgeting, credit, and home-buying—often with a side of humor and a dose of reality. She also held leadership roles as an agent, division manager, and assistant vice president of marketing before founding MyPoM Insurance, where she finally got to be the boss and choose her own healthy office snacks.
A graduate of Florida State University with a degree in Spanish, Karin spent 42 years in the Tampa Bay area, where she served on the board of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and was active in the Tampa Bay Estate Planning Council.
Now happily rooted in Alaska, Karin enjoys singing and dancing (sometimes simultaneously), exploring the great outdoors, and reading aloud, all with her husband Bob, a longtime Anchorage attorney and her favorite debate partner. She’s fluent in Spanish, speaks German with Bob at home, and is always ready to swap insurance tips for a good story or a strong cup of coffee.

Maximize Your Benefits
Discover important information for your situation.
Married
If you are married, you may be able to collect up to one-half of your spouse’s Social Security benefit. This won’t affect your spouse’s checks. Ask an RSSA® for details.

Divorced
If you are divorced and 62 or older, you may qualify to receive Social Security benefits from your ex-spouse — in addition to your own Social Security payments. Ask an RSSA® for details.

Widowed
If your spouse has passed away, you may be eligible for a survivor benefit. The extra money may be essential for you. Ask an RSSA® for details.

Single
If you are single, and solely responsible for your retirement, making the optimal Social Security claiming decision is particularly important. Ask an RSSA® about your options.

Self-Employed
As a self-employed person, you may be able to decrease your payroll taxes — yet still receive the maximum income from Social Security. Ask an RSSA® for details.

Disability
Social Security can provide valuable disability benefits if you qualify, but these benefits — and how you qualify for them — are often misunderstood. Ask an RSSA® for details.

Immigrant
If you are a lawful permanent resident, but not yet a citizen, you may still qualify for Social Security benefits. Ask an RSSA® for details.
