Hailing from a rural Midwest farming family, J. arrived at the Presidio of Monterey in 2001. Formerly an Arabic language student at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and Veteran of the United States Army, J. and his wife Elisabeth have made their home in the California Central Coast.
J. actively supports our region through service to various boards and committees. He is the CFO and Treasurer for the Defense Language Institute Foundation, Board Member for the Ventana Wildlife Society, Past Board Chair for AMP Media, Past Board Treasurer for The Rotary Club of Monterey, has served on the MPC and MPUSD Citizens Bond Oversight and Facilities Advisory Committees, and is active in the Masonic community as a Past Master of Monterey Masonic Lodge.
J. advocates for Veterans issues throughout the Central Coast, particularly the American Legion Riders, Salinas Veterans Parade, and Salinas Hometown Heroes Banner Program. J. is the Founder and CEO of The Mattox Group consulting firm, which fosters growth and prosperity in our communities through empowering small businesses and not-for-profit organizations to achieve transformative growth. J. is a fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute. J. supports our local Monterey Bay Union FC soccer team and enjoys traveling with Elisabeth and their two children.
