Elayne Cotton

My name is Elayne Cotton, a Texas girl living in a Colorado world! I was raised in Dallas though once I left the big city I came to love small town living. 

Northern Oklahoma College is where I discovered my love for teaching. I spent a great deal of time in a math tutoring lab helping others to understand the process of formulas and equations while earning a Mathematics degree. 

In 2000, I arrived in Colorado to start a career at the local steel mill, where I worked with a diverse group of employees and cultures from both upper management and the workforce. It gave me insight and a new understanding of workers and the unions that protect their rights. 

In honor of my parents who both served during World War II, I joined the American Legion Auxiliary 20 years ago because of the work they do for the veterans in our community. Health and Nutrition is also a personal interest of mine, which led me to own two unique direct sales businesses. Daily self-care, exercise as well as our mental health are so important to maintain as we age. It’s easier to accomplish if you start with one small change. 

With an inspiration to teach something new, I acquired my accident and health insurance license in 2022.
